Teacher Appreciation Campaign
Professionals in the education fields have endured one of the most unique and challenging situations of anyone as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cato College of Education is recognizing our Niner educators by accepting gifts in their honor from appreciative students, family, friends and colleagues.
Gifts of $1,000 or more will be etched in stone on the Cato Teaching Discovery Mural, which is prominently located in the quad between the Cato College of Education and College of Health and Human Services buildings. Gifts will support current students and college initiatives aiming to fulfill the college’s vision.
After making your gift in any amount, email email@example.com to share your honored education professional’s name, story, and a photograph, if you’d like. The College will reach out to those who have been honored with an acknowledgement via email. We’ll also share selected stories on our social media channels and website.
Niner University Elementary
Niner University Elementary (NUE) is a public school created and led by education experts at UNC Charlotte. The school helps young students discover the joy of learning, and foster the growth of empathy and responsibility through knowledge. NUE is located in west Charlotte in the Reid Park neighborhood, and supports students from high needs, lower-performing schools.
We have a beautiful gym, a playground, and field for outdoor play, but currently, we do not have a single piece of play equipment. We would love for our students to have balls, hula hoops, jump ropes, and perhaps a yoga mat. We would also like to expose students to multiple musical instruments and experiences using hand held instruments such as maracas, tambourines, triangles, bells, etc.
Additionally, our popular summer reading camp will expand to host an in-person camp for six weeks at NUE. Attendees will benefit from two hours of reading support each day for at least four weeks. The more financial support you provide, the more students will be able to attend! Your support will provide campers with quality reading support and recreational activities.
